Sedge head north aiming to extend run

LIVERSEDGE head north to Pickering Town tomorrow aiming to continue their impressive away form in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division (3pm).

Sedge have won four and drawn two of their seven away games, in contrast to winning one, drawing two and losing four of their matches at Clayborn.

They returned from in-form Barton Old Boys with a creditable 1-1 draw last Saturday but could easily have had all three points in the bag after missing a couple of late chances to snatch victory.

Eric Gilchrist’s men then have the opportunity to improve their home record on Tuesday when they host Heanor Town in a re-arranged fixture (7.45pm).

Heanor, from Derbyshire, were only accepted to the NCE at the start of this season but were fast-tracked to the top flight and this will be the first time the two sides have met in any competition.

Liversedge have confirmed their West Riding County Cup second -round tie at home to FC Halifax Town will be on Tuesday October 30.
