Town held to draw

HUDDERSFIELD Town’s hopes of gaining a winning momentum before going into the npower Division One play-offs were frustrated again as they were held to a 1-1 draw at relegation battlers Walsall.

With top scorer Jordan Rhodes being rested in this penultimate match of the league season Lee Novak got Town off to a flyer with a goal after Scott Arfield teed up the shot for him.

Town could not build on the great start and had little answer as Walsall worked hard and tested the defence before Florent Cuvelier earned a deserved equaliser for the Saddlers.

They could have snatched all the points had Emanuel Ledsman been able to beat Town goalkeeper Ian Bennett.

Town, who play Yeovil in the final game of the season against Yeovil at the Galpharm on Saturday, also have injury worries. Left-back Calum Woods limped off afer 21 minutes, while on 63 minutes Damien Johnson, in his first game back after injury, appeared to be suffering concussion following an accidental collision.
