Hanging Heaton close in on leaders after Rangers win

Just three games survived in the entire Sunday League programme last week but Heaton took advantage to record an impressive 6-2 victory over Clifton Rangers Reserves.

Thomas Ramsden took his goal tally for the season to 17 with a hat-trick, Jamie Baulk curled home a free-kick, while James Keen and Chris Goodair were also on target.

Heaton are now eight points clear of third placed Battyeford but have played three games more.

AFC Chickenley suffered a 7-2 defeat against Oakwell Motel in the Premier Division.

Victory allowed Oakwell to leapfrog their opponents in the table after Reece Scholes hit a hat-trick, with Jonny Beverley, Jack Anderson, Jamie Sands and Gary Riley also netting. Shaun Doran and Michael Chadwick replied.

Rose of York moved to within three points of Division Two leaders Six Lane Ends thanks to an 8-1 win.

Rose are now one of five teams, along with Six Lane Ends, who are level on 12 points after goals from Matthew Bolton (hat-trick), Jordan Brook (two), Andrew Asquith, Ashley Wells and Reece Brook earned them all three points.

n Lower Hopton missed the chance to close the gap on the leading sides in West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division when they lost 4-2 at home to Salts last Saturday.

Goals from Liam Royal and Simeon Fletcher were unable to prevent Hopton’s defeat as Salts moved to within a point of them with Kyle Berry (two), Jonny Cunnington and George Hicks on the scoresheet.

Hunsworth slipped to a 14th defeat of the season as Gareth Wright scored their consolation goal in a 6-1 defeat away to Ovenden, who had George Bamforth (four), Scott Eastwood and Steve Fullard on target.

Littletown’s home game against Golcar United was abandoned after an hour with the visitors leading 1-0.

Overthorpe moved to within two points of Division One leaders Newsome thanks to a 7-0 victory over Wibsey.

Overthorpe led 4-0 at half-time and eased to victory with goals from Jordan Angus (two), James Wilson, Jake Harrison, Reece Patterson, Jack Allerton and Steve Jordan.

Lower Hopton Reserves slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Bradford in Division Two.
