Housecroft treble as Nash stun Battyeford

BATLEY Irish Nash upset the formbook in last Sunday’s Brook Butler Cup second round with a 5-3 home win over Battyeford.

Heavy Woollen League Division Two Nash defied their Premier Division visitors after extra-time.

Sean Housecroft scored a hat-trick while Ben Endeacott and Chris Shaw also struck. Barry Mitchell and Bobby Evans replied for Battyeford.

Nash now face a trip to New Scarborough in the last 16 on November 20 after Andrew Arnett, Mark Sampson and Tom Langstaff scored in their 3-1 success over Ravenswharfe (Lee Poskitt).

Stephen Young and Joseph Bailey scored for Hartshead who drew 2-2 after extra-time with visitors Howden Clough (Ian Hall and Jamie Smith) before edging home 4-3 on penalties.

Hartshead now face a daunting trip to HW Premier leaders St John Fisher who thumped hosts Scholes Athletic (Tom Hoyle) 14-1.

Dominic Riordan led the charge with five goals and Rob Hiscox fired a hat-trick while Fisher’s other strikes came from Rob Bordman (two), Noel Whittaker, John Graham, Mark Heseldin and Paul Riordan.

Punch Bowl Cleckheaton (Kyle Kershaw) lost 4-1 at home to Birkenshaw. Goals from Christopher Moore, Joel Farrar, Paul Smith and Lee Phillips saw Birkenshaw book a home tie against Hightown who won 3-0 at Northorpe United thanks to Jonathan House, Ben Norris and an own goal.

Joel Clegg and Luke Sherman (two) were on target as West End won 3-1 against Gomersal (Jon Wilson) and they will be home again to AFC Chickenley who beat visitors Marsh (Gary Kaye hat-trick and William Stephenson) 5-4.

Kieran Corley also fired a hat-trick as Navigation cruised to a 9-0 home success over Pack Horse.

Matthew Bugg (two), Dale Hanson (two), Bobby Campbell and Lewis Collinson also struck for Navigation, who now visit Thirsty Man after they won 4-1 at Oakwell Motel (Jonny Beverley) thanks to Elliot Williams (two), Lee Ryan and Lamin Bojang.

Taylor will entertain Birstall St Patricks in the third round after goals from Ibrahim Daja (two), Yousuf Bham (two), Abdullah Jasat, Ibrahim Seedat and Mohammed Sidat saw them win 7-3 at home to Dewsbury Rangers.

Dominic Karimi and Andrew Pickles both scored twice as Woodman Batley Carr eased to a 7-1 triumph at Mount Pleasant (Raees Lorgat).

Carl Austin, Alex Pickles and Nick Murray also struck to earn a home tie against Morley Cricket and Sports. Goals from Ryan Hartley, Scott Hall and Kevin McKay saw Morley win 3-2 at Mirfield Town (Tom Heaton and Tom Wilks).

A Lee McKeown treble helped Littletown power to a 10-3 victory at FC Woodman. Andrew Asquith (two), Richard Newman (two), Liam Fox Jordan Maltas and Craig Fisher also scored for Littletown who will now host Thornhill Lees. Scott Hargreaves (hat-trick), Stephen Brook and Neil Davis saw Lees to a 5-1 win at home to Churwell Lions.
