Imran Patel hit a sparkling century to guide Dewsbury Young Stars to victory in the Dewsbury District League Section A Cup Final.
Imran hit 105 not out as Young Stars recovered from a slow start to post 192 from their 40 overs in last Sunday’s final against PKWA at Batley CC.
Javid Iqbal produced a fine spell of bowling conceding just seven runs from his eight overs as Young Stars were reduced to 15-2 and stuttered to 80-4 after 25 overs.
Imran Patel, along with Nazir Patel (23) and Hassan Patel (18) accelerated the innings late on as Young Stars scored 112 runs from the final 15 overs to post a challenging total of 192-7.
Young Stars then struck three early blows as PKWA were reduced to 20-3 in reply before Shokat Iqbal and Firhan Ali (25) produced a 50-run stand.
When Ali fell, it signalled another mini collapse as PKWA lost quick wickets and slipped to 132-9.
Iqbal shared a last-wicket stand of 35 with Zuber Zar, who was finally caught with the score on 167, as Young stars clinched victory by 25 runs.
Iqbal was left stranded on 66 not out, while pick of the Young stars bowlers were S Patel, who finished with 3-21 from eight overs and Hassan Patel with 2-31 from his eight overs.
Man-of-the-match was awarded to Imran Patel for his 105 and two catches.
