Bang in-form Cleckheaton go in search of a seventh straight victory in North One East when they entertain Middlesbrough tomorrow, with kick off times now reverting back to 3pm.

Having toppled runaway leaders Beverley in their last home game and then completed a league double over play-off chasing Morley, Cleckheaton continued their impressive form with a 24-17 victory at Malton & Norton last week.

Dave Harrison’s men have only lost once at Moorend all season and go into the Boro game having won their last eight matches on home midden.

In contrast Middlesbrough have won just once on the road this season and will not be relishing the trip to one of the form teams in the division.

It is a shame that Clckheaton’s early season form was so patchy otherwise they would certainly be challenging the front runners, although the Moorenders can look forward to a Yorkshire Cup quarter-final at home to Morley on Wednesday March 27.

Rich Piper’s brace of tries at Malton last week took his total to 21 and he is now the division’s joint top scorer along with Gareth Burns of Wheatley Hills.

Piper scored 23 league tries last term, to finish second in the standings, but with six matches to play, the popular back row man appears set to smash that.
