Late tries see Moor condemned to defeat

Moor were well in the game after 46 minutes, only trailing 12-10, but as they pressured the defence, over adventurous play was punished with breakaway tries as the visitors pulled clear.

Stanningley showed their intentions from the start with a try from Jack Brown, converted by Callum Smithson.

Moor hit back and levelled with a Jacob Flathers try which he converted.

Despite the efforts of Danny Wardman, Cameron Bruce and Jonjoe Fox, Stanningley regained the lead with Brown’s second try, again converted by Smithson.

Moor turned round 12-6 behind but rallied and good runs by Peter Robinson and Andy Robinson allowed centre James Eatherley to force his way over.

Things started to go wrong and an 18-6 penalty count did Moor no favours as Stanningley scored two converted tries to lead 24-10.

Adie Moore, Andrew Robinson and Bartley O’Brian led from the front and Eatherley forced his way over to give the Maroons hope at 24-14.

However, Stanningley pulled away in the latter stages to add a further 16 points.

Moor have a two-week break from league action but their A team entertain Wibsey Warriors A in the Yorkshire Men’s League Entry Division on Saturday (ko 2.30pm).
