Lawton hat-trick helps Battyeford seal victory

BATTYEFORD moved fourth in the Heavy Woollen Sunday League Premier Division after Johnny Lawton (hat-trick) and Barry Mitchell (brace) led them to a 5-3 win at FC Pack Horse, who replied through Jonathan Irving, Daniel Holdsworth and Jay Hall.

Birstall St Patricks moved second in the Championship with an 8-5 win at Carriers Arms. Jean-Marie Julienne led the way with a hat-trick, with Sam Tyrell (brace), Scott Minto and Joe Ratcliffe also scoring. David Clarke, Mark Raimond, Grahame Stockdale, Sam Parkes and Colin Cooney replied.

Liam Elliott and Johnny Beverley both fired hat-tricks in Oakwell Motel’s 7-4 win over Gomersal. Chris Dixon bagged the other, with Andy Kaye (brace) replying.

Northorpe United are five points clear at the top of Division One after a 6-0 win over Barr Street, with Patrick Davies (four), Chris Meeson and Matthew Theaker scoring.

Railway East Ardsley (Kane Wilson, Harry Moxon and Shaun Hammill) lie second but they were held to a 3-3 draw at Ravenswharfe (Steve Smith, Josh Walton and Robert Stenhouse).

Tim Smith (two), Wayne Nyoni, Harry Saville, Ben Smith and Paul Woolford netted in Birkenshaw Reserves’ 6-2 win over St Ignatius, who replied through a Ryan Boland double.

Hightown slumped to the foot of the table after they could only draw 3-3 at Rising Sun. Jason Kerry, Steve McGowan and Danny Gannon netted for Rising Sun, with Hightown earning a point through a Dean Comins brace, plus a strike from Phil Jones.
