Masson, Delaney and the rest of the Great Britain squad were presented with their international shirts by international manager Mick Turner, also of Shaw Cross, and chairman Spen Allison.

The Cougars went on to run in 11 tries as they completed a comprehensive victory.

Masson’s strong drive set up a good field position which allowed Clayton Sutton to score the opening try.

The Shaw Cross man was also heavily involved in the Cougars 10th try of the match when his quick hands sent Widnes St Maries winger Gavin Conroy over.

James Fields, of Hunslet Old Boys, was Great Britain’s man-of-the-match as he scored a brace of tries, while teammate Tom Saunders was also among their scorers.

BARLA Great Britain coach Mick Fishwick was delighted with his side’s display, saying: “We knew at times it would be scrappy but we got more shape and direction as time went on.

“The ground was hard and the conditions were hotter than most boys had experienced, however we got a win and there were some excellent individual performances which we take into the next game.”

The second Test is on Saturday at the GC Foster College Stadium, while they were due to face Jamaica Intercollegiate All Stars on Wednesday.
