Mills made a stuttering start in reply as Joe Duffy (2-30) and Richard West (2-20 in 11 overs) saw them reduced to 26-3. Gary Senior (23) and Andrew Moorhouse got Mills back on track with a stand of 37 but Ben Cross (4-30) ripped through the middle order to leave the visitors rocking at 85-7.

But Moorhouse remained defiant and his 37 not out from 114 deliveries, aided by Vasant Patel who faced 40 balls for one run, proved key as they made 103-8 in 46.1 overs.

Gildersome took a massive step towards safety with six points in a 91-run victory at Adwalton who are now in the second relegation place eight points adrift of Gildersome.

Batley A are ninth, two points ahead of Gildersome, after their seven-wicket defeat at home to Buttershaw A.

Birstall A wasted little time in chasing down Townville A’s 205-9 to secure a two-wicket win. Josh Twohig hit 32 for the hosts but there seemed little hope when he was out to leave the reply at 52-5. David Fozard then hit 74 before James Holroyd made 51 not out, aided by Taj Adil (7no) as they raced to 210-8 in just 34 overs.

Earlier Adil claimed 3-54 as Townville A reached 205-9. Ashley Mackereth, who also took 4-49, top scored with 71 before being run out by Dominic Cleghorn. Liam Smith made 35 while Ben Twohig took 2-30 and Alex Drake 2-52.
