Mirfield Town move second after fine victory

Reece Patterson and Jack Allerton fired Overthorpe into a 2-0 lead after just 10 minutes before Town stormed back in style.

Jonny Mitchell bagged four goals, there was a brace from Adam Brown plus a Michael Rounding strike as Mirfield pulled clear.

Allerton hit a late penalty for Overthorpe in a result that puts Mirfield two points behind leaders St John Fisher, whose game was again postponed.

Waterlogged pitches, together with cup commitments, mean the Premier Division champions have not played a league game since November 8.

Fisher are already facing a fixture backlog as they face a rearranged West Riding County Cup tie at home to White Eagles on Sunday and travel to Millbridge WMC in the Brook Butler Cup on December 20.

Fisher kick off the new year with a Heavy Woollen Challenge Cup tie at Heckmondwike Sports on January 10.

In the only other Premier Division match to survive, Woodman Batley Carr climbed to fourth place with a 7-1 win over lowly Oakwell Motel, who had Dominic Carr on target.

Rob Bordman hit a superb nine goals as St John Fisher Reserves hammered Deighton WMC 12-2 to move up to sixth place in the Championship .

Former Oldham Athletic and Everton player George Green, Tom Riordan and Scott Molloy scored the others, with Deighton replying through Kadean Fogarthy and Brian Bradshaw.

Birstall St Patricks enjoyed a rare win, sealing a narrow 6-5 victory at Marsh thanks to a hat-trick from Jean-Marie Julienne, plus goals from Adam Swinden, Alex Arnold and Sam Tyrell.

Marsh replied through a Marc Harrison brace, plus efforts from Marcus Newby, Liam Roe and Tyron Sagar.

Hanging Heaton Cricket Club moved two points clear at the top of Division One after Scott Lightowler bagged four goals in a 5-3 win over Scholes Athletic, with Sam Hetherington claiming the other.

Scholes replied through a Craig Wood double, plus one from Wayne Leonard.

Previous leaders The Yorkshireman lost 4-0 at home to Clifton Rangers Reserves. Battyeford are third after Ian Hudson (two) Jamie Brannan, Joe Green and David Sheard all scored in a 5-0 win over bottom side St Ignatius.

Batley Celtics climbed out of the Division One relegation zone after a 6-0 win over FC Liversedge.

Brad Jackson hit four goals and Rafal Siudak supported with a brace as Celtics produced an impressive display.

In the only game to survive in Division Two, leaders Old Bank WMC moved six points clear at the top with a 21-1 win over bottom side Shire.

Josh Cooke led the way with eight goals, Robert Evans hit five, William Evans, Tim Bruce and Stephen Brown all fired doubles, with Jason Evans and James Nichols completing the rout.
