Missed chances prove costly as Liversedge suffer defeat

LIVEREDGE suffered defeat at the hands of unbeaten Barton Town as they slipped to 12th in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Sedge again created chances and could easily have taken something from the game.

Hide AdKieran Corley had a free header but he directed the ball down and it bounced over the crossbar.
Ash Dexter turned in the area but shot wide for Barton but it was Sedge who had more of the play in the first half.
Chris Hannay had an excellent game in midfield and he found Chris Wood, who set up Gibril Bojang to shoot wide.
The best first-half chance came after 36 minutes when Hannay’s pass sent Tate Williams through on goal but the goalkeeper got down to save at his feet.

Hide AdBarton took the lead two minutes into the second half when Ashley Littimore curled a free-kick into the top corner.
Town continued to press and Roy Ford forced a good save from Paul Hargreen before a forward was fouled in the area and Richard Metcalfe converted the penalty.
Sedge made a triple substitution and Matthew Bugg had a shot saved, with Danny Toronczak’s rebound being blocked. Sedge pulled a goal back two minutes from time when Bugg slipped the ball under the goalkeeper.
