Moor fight back in Yorkshire Cup win

Moor were slow to start and conceded two converted tries as Queensbury took a 12-0 lead after 30 minutes.

Moor began to find a way back into the game with Dean Arundel prompting and Jonjoe Fox, Phil Shotton and James Samme making testing runs.

James Delaney scooted from 10 metres out to pull a try back before half-time.

Moor produced some excellent attacking rugby after the break to score three unanswered tries which saw them claim victory.

Winger George Croisdale collected a ball on his own 20 and raced the remaining 80 metres, showing tremendous pace and elusiveness to score a terrific try. Jacob Flathers converted to put the home side within two points of Queensbury.

Moor bombarded the Queensbury line with substitute Cameron Bruce making a big impact.

Matt Shaw, Patrick Farrelly and Andrew Robinson supported, while Delaney’s defence-splitting pass sent BARLA over 35s tourist Adrian Moore crashing over to put Moor in front for the first time. Flathers converted.

Moor kept up the momentum and another BARLA tourist, Andrew Robinson, made powerful runs, along with co-centre Anthony Boardman.

Moor sent the ball through several pairs of hands and Richard Squires met a pass and crashed over from close range to end Queensbury’s hopes.

Full-back Flathers again converted to ensure Moor booked their place in the second round.

n Moor’s A team put in an enthusiastic performance despite losing 25-20 to Beeston Broncos in Pennine League Division Six.

Teenagers Cain Croity and Caden Wilkinson made their open age debuts and were joined by 40-year-old Jarrad Beety.

Beeston raced into a 14-0 lead but Moor hit back when Scott Sheard went close before hooker Jacob Crosswell nipped between the posts

Beeston kicked a drop-goal before half-time but man-of-the-match Wilkinson hit back after the break with his first open age try.

Crosswell scored his second try, with Tom Kaye converting but Beeston replied with a converted try of their own to lead 21-14.

Wilkinson scored his second try, improved by Kaye, but Beeston grabbed a late try to complete victory in an entertaining contest.
