Moor silence Bulldogs to climb table

Dewsbury Moor returned to winning ways in Pennine League Championship One with a 38-30 victory over Brotherton Bulldogs.

The success was easier than the scoreline would suggest as Moor had tendency to get well in front and then rest on their laurels.

Moor registered seven well-worked tries as scrum-half Cameron Bruce led the way with a hat-trick.

Debutant, 17-year-old Tom Kaye, is yet another product of Moor’s successful junior set up and he scored a try in his first senior appearance.

Tobias Richardson, Jordan Foster and James Delaney all scored individual efforts, while James Eatherley and Bradley Foster kicked two goals apiece, with loose forward Jamie Samme also chipping in with a conversion.

Prop forwards Adie Moore and Phil Shotton led from the front, backed up by Ash Boddy, Andy Robinson and Patrick Farrelly.

Delaney had his usual busy, hardworking game, but was pipped to the man-of-the-match award by centre Anthony Boardman.

Bartley O’Brien was safe in the last line of defence at full-back as Moor collected a second win in three league outings to move fifth in the table.

Dewsbury Moor will be looking to build on last week’s win when they entertain Newsome Panthers on Saturday (ko 2pm).

Like Moor, Newsome have won two out of three games, and victory would see the Dewsbury side climb into the top three.

n Dewsbury Moor A travelled to Leeds Underdogs with just 14 players, five of which were 17-year-olds.

The young side gave a good account of themselves for an hour but the Leeds outfit had a full side and had too much fire power for Moor in the final quarter.

Moor A are fourth in Division Six East with two wins and two defeats from their opening four matches.
