Moor too strong for Boys in Championship One derby

The Boys were hampered when influential Adam Bingham suffered a broken arm and Richard Moody was taken off with a twisted knee in the opening 10 minutes

Moor scored an early try out wide through Jordan Foster before strong running by Danny Wardman, James Delaney and Phil Shotton set up another good position.

Jamie Samme, Brad Foster and George Croisdale continued the move for Jacob Crosswell to score near the posts. Richard Squires converted.

Both teams had a player sin-binned following an altercation and Moor extended their lead when Andrew Robinson crossed for a terrific individual try, which Squires improved to put Moor 16-0 up at half-time.

Batley started the second half with strong running from forwards Mark Grayshon, Gavin Davis and Aaron James to go close but Moor responded well, led by captain Delaney.

Ash Boddy, Samme and Patrick Farrelly linked to put Adam Barrett over for their fourth try, converted by Jacob Flathers.

There was a second double sin-binning before Croisdale stormed over for another Moor try, goaled by Flathers.

Andrew Robinson added his second try, which Flathers goaled, with Squires scoring Moor’s seventh to make it 38-0.

Batley Boys battled to the end and were rewarded with a late Lewis Hardy try.

Boys top tackler was Aaron James followed by Gavin Davis and Mark Grayshon.

Moor are level with Championship One leaders Doncaster Toll Bar and they travel to King Cross Park on Saturday, when the Boys entertain New Earswick All Blacks.
