Dewsbury Celtic recorded a third straight home win in National Conference Division Three last Saturday as they fought back from 12-6 down to defeat Oldham St Anne’s 28-12 in Crow Nest Park.

Kieran McGinnity and Akeroyd scored first half tries for St Anne’s, both converted by Matt Whitehead, but an excellent defensive effort after the break ensured Oldham were unable to add any further points to their tally.

Paul Foulstone replied with a converted try as Celtic trailed at half-time before taking control to run in 22 unanswered points to take the spoils.

Billy Yarrow led the way with a brace of tries, with Sam Whitworth and George Senior also crossing.

Foulstone added two further goals with Will Copley also landing a conversion as Celtic secured an impressive win, which leaves them sixth in the table with six points.

Celtic chairman Danny Lee praised the team’s efforts and believes the side can push on from this win.

Lee said: “There is a massive buzz round the club at the moment and you can see it on and off the field and I would like to thank everyone involved at the club I am a very proud chairman.

“We are definitely moving in the right direction under Brendan, Mark and new Shamrocks coach Danny Fisher

“They cannot do their jobs without Clive Senior, Dean Foley, Rachel Newton, Clair Oldroyd, Helen Senior, Michelle Huntington and the rest of my committee.”

Celtic are at home again this Saturday when Millom are the visitors, which will form part of a double header for the open age sides.

The new-look Celtic Shamrocks side will finally look to get underway in Yorkshire Men’s League Division Five after last week’s game at New Earswick All Blacks was cancelled.

They entertain Birkenshaw, with a kick off to be arranged.
