KBW boxers suffer mixed fortunes on exciting show

Quigg was at the Orchid Banqueting Hall to support fellow Bury boxer Lewis Spanner, who help form part of a packed 14-bout show.

KBW man Jake Tattersfield dominated all three rounds of his 44kg bout with Dylan Wilkinson (Kingston ABC).

Home fighter Kiddash Hussain made his debut against fellow novice Shaun Moorhouse (Laisterdyke ABC).

Hussain boxed beautifully, establishing a good rhythm and made his opponent miss before capitalising with sharp counter attacks to win by split decision.

KBW’s Jibran Khurshid faced Brandon Bennett (Ali BC) in the opening youth bout of the night.

Khurshid landed some solid combinations, which hurt his opponent in the first round.

Bennett came out aggressively for the second and landed a solid hook which saw Khurshid stagger into the ropes.

Bennett capitalised with a solid hook which saw the referee step in and give Khurshid a standing eight count. Bennett continued to force the pace and forced a third round stoppage.

KBW’s Joe Elsey was on debut against Bury ABC’s Spanner over three two-minute rounds.

Elsey established his authority in the first round and went on to seal a unanimous decision.

Two more debutants Haris Ajaz (KBW) and Liam McElduff (Evolve) produced another entertaining bout with the visiting boxer awarded victory by split decision.

KBW’s Subhaan Ahmed was back in action after narrowly missing out in the National Finals as he faced Loan Croft (Cardigan ABC).

Welsh Champion Croft came out in the first trying to take charge of the bout but was missing due to Ahmed’s movement.

Croft stepped up his aggression in the second and trapped Ahmed against the ropes.

Croft was able to close the distance between him and Ahmed in the third and was awarded victory by split decision.

KBW’s Saad Zaman was another on debut against Sohail Rashid (Jim Moores ABC).

Rashid was the aggressor in the opening round but Zaman found his range to take the second, while the third round saw both boxers eager to please the crowd but Zaman landed the cleaner shots to win by unanimous decision.

KBW’s Adnan Khan (KBW) made his comeback after a long injury against Gabriel Kayani (Sheffield City ABC) .

Khan made a sharp start and looked to force the pace, appearing to land the cleaner blows in the first two rounds.

Kayani was the more aggressive fighter in the third but although many at ringside thought Khan had won, it was the Sheffield man who was awarded a split decision and a re-match is set for May 5 on Kayani’s home show in Sheffield.

Daniel Stockton (Halifax) won the first round of his bout with Harry Avis (Training Cave) only for his Birstall opponent to win by split decision. Ibrahim Khan (Metro ABC) earned a unanimous decision over Olly Sugden (Training Cave).
