Thornhill Trojans A got off to a winning start in Yorkshire Men’s League Alliance Division One with a 10-0 victory over Normanton Knights last Saturday.
Thornhill A fielded a strong team that featured a number of new faces.
Five players made their debut for the Trojans — Liam Morley, Nick Mitchell, Declan Kaye, Martyn Holland and Liam Ward — and this will give much needed competition for places in the team.
Johnny Mack also made his return for the Trojans.
Thornhill A led 6-0 at half-time through a try from Martyn Holland when his out stretched arm managed to plant the ball down over the line. Nick Mitchell converted.
Man-of-the-match Lee Smith ran strong and hard for the Trojans.
However, the crowning moment of the game was a well worked try for Josh Geary who squeezed in at the corner to seal his side’s win.
Thornhill Trojans A play their second fixture at home to Myton Warriors A this Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.
