SCHOLES WILL be targeting a Heavy Woollen Cup upset on Sunday when they welcome holders New Farnley to New Popplewell Lane.

New Farnley won the famous old trophy for the first time last season, beating Hoylandswaine in the final, while Scholes suffered relegation from the Bradford League’s top flight.

Scholes have signalled their intentions of making a quick return to the Premier Division by winning their opening three league games this season.

Sunday’s cup clash will provide a good indicator as to how strong James Stansfield’s troops are this season when they come up against one of the fancied sides.

Scholes will bid to extend their winning league run to four matches when they entertain Bankfoot in Bradford Championship One on Saturday.

Scholes have taken a maximum 60 points from their opening three league fixtures and are level at the top of the table with Methley.

Gomersal travel to Morley, the side relegated with Scholes last season.
