Some great throwing by Spenborough athletes helped the club to continue their good showing in their latest Northern League Division Two match at Bury.
Bethany Thomas and Charlotte Bell dominated the hammer throwing with victories in the A and B events and they achieved two second places in the discus throwing, while Bethany was also second in the shot putt.
Darren Thomas had fine wins in the men’s discuss and shot putt and a second place in the hammer throw.
Thomas was supported by Jake Darby, who won the B hammer and was second in the B discus.
The Spenborough team were again helped by the multi talented Glenn Aspindle who was second in the javelin throw, long jump and the 110 metre hurdles.
There was some fine jumping from Olivia Reah, who was second in the long and triple jumps.
On the track, Dominic Lamb repeated his wins of the first match in the 100 and 200 sprints.
Ciara Flannery placed second in the 400 metres and Molly Waring was second in the 400 metres hurdles.
The Spenborough team finished third of the six teams behind Blackburn and Holmfirth.
The next league match is scheduled for Ashton under Lyme on July 8.
