Nostalgia: A new face in the ranks
Susan Haley was the first woman taxi driver in Batley in 1984.
The 24-year-old mum of three started out as a taxi radio operator before taking the taxi drivers’ test.
But when she tried to get a job as a driver, the men objected – so Susan packed her bags and went to a Purlwell Lane company and started work as a driver there.
