Reader Jeffrey White sent in a copy of this fantastic 1960s postcard of Heckmondwike.

It was apparently produced shortly after the Dempster Lister Memorial Garden of Rest had been created at the top of Beck Lane. Jeffrey reckons the makers didn’t like the look of the large building behind the park – so decided to replace it with the sea.

The parish church, park, Market Street and Market Square were also featured on the postcard – but they appear to be still very much on dry land!
