Pack Horse and Hightown suffer disappointing losses

WITH Heavy Woollen Sunday League Division Two leaders Dewsbury Rangers in cup action last week, FC Pack Horse had the chance to close the gap at the top, but were beaten 5-2 by a fast improving Gomersal side.

Kieran Armitage (hat-trick), Matthew Blackburn and Nick Wilkinson struck for Gomersal, with James Parkin and Ashley Brook replying for Pack Horse, who remain six points behind the leaders.

Hightown missed the chance to go second after they suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat against bottom side Battyeford Reserves, who took the points thanks to Simon Farlow’s penalty.

Taylor won 6-4 at home to Rising Sun thanks to strikes from Ahmed Seedat (two), Suleman Aswat, Ashraf Lakhi, Haroon Laher and Faizal Lambat. Bradley Maud and Danny Gannon both hit doubles for Rising Sun.

Andy Asquith and Andy Virr struck to ensure Liversedge Albion went home with the points after a narrow 2-1 win at Ravenswharfe (Michael Smith).
