Dewsbury Moor ARLFC’s Heckmondwike Road pitch has undergone an incredible transformation thanks to the efforts of former player Lewis Pattinson.

Injury and work commitments forced Pattinson to retire from playing but he is now assistant groundsman at Leeds Rhinos and wanted to give something back to his former club.

After Dewsbury Moor were accepted into the National Conference League, Pattinson vowed to provide the club with the best possible playing surface.

For a 12-week period, Pattinson was the only person allowed onto the field, to enable him to prepare it for the new campaign.

The field has been fully drained, rolled, fertilised and lawn mower cut and Pattinson often finished his day job with the Rhinos at around 5pm before travelling straight to Dewsbury Moor, where he spent up to five hours working to transform the field to the highest possible standard.

The new-look pitches will be used by Moor’s open age and Under-18 academy teams and were showcased during the recent Heavy Woollen Jim Brown Cup semi-final victory over neighbours Dewsbury Celtic.
