Prizefighter weigh-in this Friday

THE official weigh-in for Prizefighter Lightweights, in which Dewsbury’s Gary Sykes is competing, will take place at St George’s Hall in Liverpool this Friday at 1pm and will be open to the public.

Sykes is one of three former British champions in the tournament, which sees eight boxers compete for a £32,000 first prize.

Manchester’s Anthony Crolla and Liverpool’s Derry Mathews are the other two British champions in Prizefighter, which has captured the imagination of fight fans with the Liverpool Olympia selling out two months ago.

Over 100 Sykes fans will be making the trip from Dewsbury on Saturday evening and for those without a ticket, Prizefighter will be televised live on Sky Sports from 8.30pm.

In an addition to the Prizefighter tournament, Rocky Fielding will face fellow Liverpool fighter Carl Dilks for the vacant English super middleweight title on the same show.
