Millie began with a record breaking performance on her way to winning the 10 year old girls butterfly race.

She followed up by breaking the 10-year-old girls freestyle and backstroke records, both of which had stood since 2008, with superb all-round individual swims.

A fourth 10-year-old girls record was also shattered with Martha Bradley winning the breaststroke race and setting a new record in the process.

Sam Brackenridge broke the boys 14 years breaststroke club record which had stood since 2010 on the way to winning his race.

The Spenborough swimming gala is the highlight of the club’s year with youngsters getting chance to compete, having shown hard word and dedication during training sessions.

There was a great turnout with the majority of club members taking part, with a number of other impressive displays leading to medal success.

Medals and trophies were provided thanks to generous sponsorship from local businesses Bermar Building Ltd, Whitcliffe Mount Business and Enterprise College, DLT Podiatry Supplies, Nufarm and Trust Locums.

The club is run by volunteers for the benefit of all children in and around the Spen Valley area and always welcomes new members.

Spenborough SC’s main club night is Tuesday from 7pm but they also train on Thursdays and Sundays.

The club also competes in competitions throughout Yorkshire and are now looking forward to further swimming galas later this month.

Spenborough Swimming Club will celebrate their 125th anniversary next year and already have numerous events planned.
