Resurgent Rangers seal Spen success

Rangers, who are one of the longest serving clubs in the league, were forced to call-off a recent game against TVR but officials rallied round to ensure they can continue.

They are confident of fielding stronger sides in future games and that certainly seemed the case last Saturday as they had a 3-1 victory over Thornhill United Seniors in the Premier Division.

The win leaves Ravensthorpe eighth in the table, nine points clear of the bottom two after Fanni and Fessy (two) scored.

United remain bottom, two points behind Quarry despite Kyle Lindley scoring their goal.

Mount Athletic appeared on course for a vital win as they led West Bradford Spartans 3-2 at half-time, after a brace from Moosa Raja and one from Mohammed Adam but the Spartans fought back to seal a 7-3 win.

There were two goals each for Neil Marsden and Sam Prest. Dominic Petschak, Paul Exley and Dan Neary also struck.

Second-bottom Quarry remain in trouble after their understrength side lost 7-0 to Girlington.

Fairbank came from two goals down to draw with TVR thanks to an equaliser with the last kick of the game. Faisal Shavir scored with a brilliant 25-yard shot, while Bilal Saeem netted from a free-kick before Mohammed Ismael and Kyrk Taylor rescued a point.

Second placed Bradford appeared to be heading for the top after Iftaq Hussain and Aziz Gulsar put them 2-0 up at half-time against leaders BD3 United.

However goals from Talat Mahmood and Arrow Sobies secured BD3 a point, which keeps them ahead of Bradford on goal difference, and they also have two games in hand.

Vision moved three points clear in Division One after they fought back from 2-0 down to beat Savile United 4-2.

Gibril Bojang was among Savile’s scorers but Vision hit back to lead 3-2 at half-time.

Matthew Knott, Chris Lever, Daniel Penny and Arron Kershaw scored a goal each for the leaders.

Second-placed Oakwell had their game against Bradford All Stars abandoned when fighting broke out between the teams. This matter will now be dealt with by the West Riding County FA.

Ravenswharfe beat Howden Clough 3-1 after the sides were locked 1-1 at the break. Michael Crosland, Liam Griffith and Ryan Rylah were Ravenswharfe’s scorers.

Ilyas Lunat bagged a consolation for Norfolk as they lost 5-1 to BD3 United Reserves (Sheraz Mohammed brace, Gulfraz Satti, Sarfraz Athtar plus an own goal).

Inter Batley earned their second win, beating Thornhill United Seniors B 5-2. A Navsarka, Zak Dazi, Fateh Laher, Talha Del War and an own goal struck for Inter, while Ryan Collomosse and James Heeley replied and the sides are now level on seven points.

Andrew Milner’s strike earned Marsh victory over ALC, which keeps them third in the table.
