Moor and Trojans produce impressive performances

Dewsbury Moor Under-10s wore their new kit during their draw against Hemsworth Dragons, which has been supplied thanks to donations from Zucchinis, Nigel Preston and Craig White.

Hemsworth earned victory the last time the teams met but this game showed how much Moor have improved.

Both defences forced errors and there was good work from Moor trio Thomas King, Kaven Oaks and Lacey Longstaff.

Arin Mahmood had a fine game, strongly backed by Jake Manton, Haaris Mushtaq and a strong debut by Max Thornton, while Kyle Hanson did a great job motivating the Moor team.

Thornhill Trojans Under-7s produced some brilliant rugby as they ran in 71 tries over three matches against Elland.

Thornhill split their 16 players into three teams, playing two sides of year two players and the other made up of children in school year one.

Thornhill were too big and strong for their opponents with Harvey Stanley and Faith Emerson running hard and making tackles in the first game.

Jackson Lister had a terrific game and scored 13 tries, while Zac Bennett’s defence was solid.

Tristan Adey’s confidence continues to grow and he was coaches player of the match, Emmerson was opposition player, while Lister scooped parents player.

Jack Griffiths and Mia Waters were among Thornhill’s try scorers and tackled well in the second match.

Max Mack had his best game to date and scored a number of tries, Jacub Parkin and Joseph Sweeney were also among the scorers, while great support also came from James Gregory in another good Trojans display.

Lucas Drake and Oliver Parker impressed in the third game, which saw Isaac Frost and Lewis Broadhead run with great enthusiasm, while Blake Hepworth tackled well.

Shaw Cross Sharks Under-14 Reds played a mixed team against Slaithwaite Saracens as coach Aiden Chandler attempted to ensure all 24 players got a game.

Callum Brian broke the deadlock as he chipped over and regather to score between the posts and give himself an easy conversion to earn magic moment and opposition MoM.

Jacob Goodall scored two tries and had a third disallowed with Brian adding a touchline goal.

Parents and coaches MoM Jed Devine made good ground and set up Connor Foster for his first try of the season which Brian again converted.

Kian Fitzpatrick produced a fine effort at full-back and Bradley Wakenshaw was solid in the tackle, with goopd defensive stints also coming from Tom Langley and Ben Marsden.

Josh Wainwright went close to scoring following a quick pass by Will Hemingway.

Nathan Wood was able to offer a short spell until injury forced him to the side line.

New signing Luke Etherington was solid in defence supporting Adam Rayner as the Sharks continued to close Slaithwaite down at every opportunity and not allowing them any field possession.

Ben Aveyard played the full game at hooker and produced a decent tackle count, while Josh Self was relentless against the Saracens attack with support from Tom Frain.
