Morrison admitted last Sunday’s victory over Keighley Cougars provided the confidence for the Rams to reach this season’s Rail Cup quarter-finals.

Morrison said: “I thought we were really clinical. We had our game planned and we never wavered from it. You couldn’t say that anybody didn’t play well.

“There still around seven boys who could have been in that side who were out injured so it was a great effort.

“I said to the boys before that there is no pressure on us and no one expects us to win. They hold the trophy and this year’s final is in their backyard but I knew we needed to go out there and build some pressure.

“We had a good buzz before the game and a feeling that it was there to be won.

“We have had a mental block over the last six weeks or so but we got rid of that last week with a win and tonight (Thursday) was an outstanding effort.

“That is all you can ask from the boys and if we play like that every week we will win more than we lose.”

Morrison has now given his squad the weekend off, as the club celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dewsbury’s Championship victory.

Morrison added: “We will all be here tomorrow night (Friday) and we can look to celebrate with the team that won the Championship and I’m sure the club will have a good night.

“The 73 team were a top side with what they achieved to win the trophy and the players who went on to have great careers afterwards. They set a benchmark for Dewsbury.

“We have put ourselves in the hat for the next round and anything can happen. Knock out rugby is like that.

“The crowd have been outstanding for us and lets hope we can get a few more results like that. I’m looking forward to the back end of the year.”
