Rams target crucial games in top-four bid

Lucas Walshaw has had a couple of spells on loan at the Rams from Wakefield and now re-joins from Bradford Bulls.

The Rams took plenty of positives from last week’s 22-18 defeat away to joint leaders Bradford Bulls but ultimately they dropped out of the top four

Coach Glenn Morrison now prepares his side to face top-four rivals Halifax, Featherstone and London Broncos in consecutive matches.

Morrison said: “We were really good against Bradford and just a couple of errors at the wrong time gifted them two tries which cost us the two points.

“I was far more happy with the performance and we have shown that, on our day, we can compete with the top sides.

“We didn’t get the two points but there were plenty of positives.

“We now have three games where, if we win, the top four chances can be in our hands.

“There are four teams fighting for fourth spot and each time we play each other they will be four-point games.

“They will all be like Grand Finals but although we will be saying that, so will the other teams around us.

“If we beat the sides around us, we could be looking at the top four, otherwise we will be left to concentrate on finishing in the top six”

Dewsbury have signed Lucas Walshaw on a month’s loan from Bradford and he could go straight into the squad to face Halifax this Sunday (3pm).

Morrison added: “Lucas has spent time with us for the last couple of years, on loan from Wakefield, so he knows most of the boys and our structures and I think he’ll fit straight in.

“A few of our centres are busted up and Lucas can play there so, if he goes well in training, I see no reasons why he won’t be considered for selection.”
