Savile United take Premier scalp to march into Sonder semis

SAVILE United of Division One marched into the semi-finals of the Spen Valley League’s Sonder Heating Cup after a 1-0 win over Premier Division Thornhill United Seniors last Saturday.

The only goal of the game came from Soyeb Bham.

Savile will be joined in the semi-finals by Premier Division high flyers Jardy Boys who had a 7-0 win over Division One leaders Vision.

Johnny Beverley and Jordan Ledgard scored a brace apiece and there were further goals for Mirnes Medic, Oliver Mitchell and Rob Ives. Joe Lylles was MoM.

Fairbank were 2-0 winners at Girlington thanks to a long-range goal for Usman Nawaz and a late strike by Faisal Shabbir.

The match between West Bradford Spartans and BD3 United went to penalties after being 3-3 at full-time. BD3 eventually went through 8-7 after the shootout. BD3 goals in regular play were scored by Salas Ali (two) and Tala Mahmood. Bobby Canning (two) and Sam Prest scored for the Spartans.

In the only Premier Division match played on Saturday, leaders Bradford beat Ravensthorpe Rangers 1-0 thanks to a penalty.

In Division One third-placed Marsh enjoyed a 5-0 win over Thornhill United Seniors B courtesy of Andrew Milner, MoM Mark Wigley, Loz Balmforth, James Parkin and Josh Wood.

BD3 Reserves earned a 5-3 win at Bradford All Stars. Safraz Akhtar scored twice for BD3 supported by goals for Syeez Hussain and Shaulat Mohammed and Ibraheem Bertaoui.

Norfolk lost 3-1 to ALC after drawing 1-1 at half-time. Adam Wilson, Ashley Dutton and Dave Niblock scored a goal each for ALC with Ilyas Lunat scoring for Norfolk.

Oakwell were a goal down to Inter Batley but rallied to win 2-1.

Second-half goals by Dave Martin and Ashley Barnes for Oakwell cancelled out a first half goal for Inter’s Arshad Navsarka.
