LIVERSEDGE were on the wrong end of a home derby defeat last Saturday as they slipped to 11th in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

The game went ahead after a noon pitch inspection but Liversedge must have wished it hadn't as second-half goals saw fourth-placed Thackley take the spoils.

Gary Birchall has returned to Clayborn and made his first start of the season. He had a good early chance as his neat pass to Luke Sherman was backheeled to Birchall but he shot narrowly wide.

Brook Newton was Liversedge's best player on the left of midfield and created their best chance on the stroke of half-time.

His cross was met by a powerful header from Luke Sherman, which was saved by goalkeeper Ben Higginson.

Two Luke Hudson goals sealed Thackley's win, while they also hit the woodwork. Hudson missed the chance of a hat-trick, firing wide late on.

Liversedge: Wilkinson, Springer, Haigh, Jordan, Larkin, Newton, Birchall, L Ryan, Sherman, Williams, S Ryan. Subs: Lawler, Cavanagh, Lunn.
