Long Eaton United 2
LIVERSEDGE suffered a disappointing defeat on their midweek trip to Nottinghamshire in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Long Eaton had not won in 10 games prior to Tuesday but they took advantage of Sedge’s weary legs following the long journey.
Danny Chambers rifled home the opening goal after 34 minutes. Liversedge had plenty of chances with Cartman striking a post the closest effort.
Long Eaton’s 80th minute goal by Shaun Radford was a terrific shot which Danny Knight had no chance of stopping.
Liversedge were without James Riordan, Damian Hopkins and Rob and Dave Bordman but manager Billy Miller said there were positives to come from the game such as Alex Ferguson who moved into the centre of defence and had a solid game with new signing Nathan Hay coming in at right back bringing plenty of experience.
Liversedge: Knight, Hay, White, Larkin, Wood, Lawler, Ferguson, Shuttleworth (Cooper), Cartman, Hurtley (Thompson 71), Hallam.
LIVERSEDGE Under-19s completed a quickfire derby treble in the Northern Youth Alliance.
Sedge earned a back-to-back double over Ossett Albion before overcoming Eccleshill on Tuesday night
Having proved too strong for Albion in a first game at Clayborn, Lversedge then defeated them for a second time e 5-1 win last Thursday.
Jack Rogerson put Sedge ahead after 20 minutes and Adam Hill made it 2-0 soon after before Albion pulled one back on the half-hour.
Hill bagged his second before the break and completed his hat-trick after 80 minutes before Fergus Baron added a fifth late on.
Despite falling behind to Eccleshill, they hit back to win 3-1. Baron equalised after 17 minutes. Dominic Howarth put them ahead after 70 minutes before Hill sealed victory.
They travel to Thackley next Wednesday.
