Sharks U10s in entertaining derby – Season’s best from U14s

Kobe Poaching orchestrated play along with MoM Robson Sutcliffe and opposition MoM Brad Llewellyn.

Poaching and Sutcliffe sent Josh Walker on a charging run to score a fine try. Elliot Richardson made 27 tackles including try-saving stops to be named top tackler while Reece O’Donnell, Harry Webster and Jai Lister gained valuable yards with great breaks.

Will Mullen and Harrison Wilkinson drove the ball in hard while Kian Lister, Jack Audsley Clay, and special effort award winner Joshua Ramskill were denied tries by solid Celtic defence.

Tyler Butterfield collected the ball from a kick and fed Brad Llewellyn, he streaked down the touch line to score a fine try in the corner.

The Under-15s lost a tough cup tie on the artificial surface at Division One side Milford.

Cross soon had the hosts rattled and quick hands saw Brandan French dummy over to score.

Milford hit back with two tries before the Sharks responded with a great try by Luke Powell.

Good passing put Eddie Macina over at the corner while Milford replied with a try before Powell broke clear only to be pulled back for a penalty.

Milford scored again to seal the win before the Sharks scored a superb try as Sam Ottewell fed French and his pass saw Tom Griffiths sprint away to score.

Zack Moore, Keiran Boulton, Tom Swift, Declan Ellis and Harry Webster worked hard and Harrison Pratt, Jonathon Marsden and Aiden Kay looked sharp while MoM was Ben D’Abreu.

There was a much-improved display by the Under-8 Tiger Sharks at Kippax.

Max Sheard scooped coaches’ MoM while Lloyd Chapman, also on debut, was named parents’ MoM.

Most improved player Amir Kadir led the attack with impressive drives, only to be denied a score by strong defence, assisted in attack by Max Snowden who was the opposition’s MoM.

Archie Dufton and Nathan Smith shone along with star award winner Myles Battye.

Top tackler Nathan Littlewood led the defence, supported by Conner Kaye who also had a fine game.

The Under-9s took the spoils against Dewsbury Moor.

MoM Harrison Green score a try and was well backed by top tackler Ethan Harrington, who also crossed.

Special effort went to Dylan Goodward, top trainer was Wilson Martin and magic moment went to Jaden Barraclough for his tackles.

Further tries came from Josef Blythe, Jack Burton and Elliot Watson, while Taylor Mail was the opposition MoM.

Kieran Smith, Wilson Martin, Fynnley Wilson, Luke Barlow, Lewis Jackson, Daniel Taylor and Harvey Bastow all tackled hard.

The Under-8s battled hard against a well drilled Newsome Panthers side in a nail biting game.

Strong tackling from Ben Walker (top tackler) wasn’t enough to get the Sharks the draw they deserved.

Powerful runs by Jude Senior saw him score twice to earn coaches MoM while the Panthers were kept quiet until late in the second half when they scored four tries to snatch the lead.

Finn Oxley-Szilagyi scored a try and Will Hemingway was held short after a length of the field run. Luke Mearns was parents’ MoM and Jacob Goodall star of the week.

Connor MacClaren, Thomas Gall, Harvey Potter, Luke Rough, Jamie Cox, Nathan Wood, Joe Wood, Bradley Wakenshaw and Matthew Willert also played well.

The Under-14s produced the best performance of the season in a 48-10 Continuation Cup win at Crigglestone.

Forwards Shaw, Ripley, Davis, Hartley, Holland and Wright proved too much for the hosts.

The defence was terrific led by top tackler Luke Hooley, parents’ MoM Declan Sheehan, Halloran, Carter, Shaw, Hartley, Holland and Wright, with support from Benson, Haley, Spindler, Nicholson, Firth, Goodlad, Lyles, Watson, Castle and Foster.

Try scorers were Sheehan (three), Davis (two), Hooley, Shaw, Ripley and Foster. Hooley added six goals.

n The Under-14 players returned to Shaw Cross club to say farewell to Charlie Willis who is going to live in Australia.

Captain Hooley presented him with a new kit and other momentos.
