Six of the best for Sharks as Celtic secure away win

20 victory over fellow promotion hopefuls Askam as they moved within two points of second placed Widnes West Bank.

Cross also have two games in hand on the Cheshire side, one of which is away to Stanningley this Saturday, when leaders Normanton travel to Askam.

Shaun Squires led the way for Shaw Cross as he bagged a hat-trick of tries and landed four goals for a personal haul of 20 points.

Aiden Chandler and Steve Shaw also scored for the Sharks, who led 20-0 at one stage only for the Cumbrians to hit back.

Askam replied with a James Duerden brace and other tries from Ben Lewney and Sam Broadley, while Danny Sayle landed two conversions.

Dewsbury Celtic returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 30-22 success over Saddleworth Rangers.

Celtic are now four points clear of second-bottom Saddleworth and are one of three teams level on eight points, two ahead of second-bottom Eccles.

Celtic led 16-10 at half-time and went on to secure a much needed win thanks to tries from Pat Foulstone, Danny Crabtree, Jason Muranka and Scott Green.

Nikki Crabtree had a fine all-round game as he scored a try and landed five goals to ensure Celtic returned from Lancashire with victory.

Eric Johnson (two), Josh Bradbury and Joe Boucher replied with tries for Saddleworth, while Mick Coates landed three goals.

Celtic are not in action this week and their next game is scheduled away to Hunslet Warriors on June 29.
