SAVILE Stars earned a comprehensive 199 run win over Adel but were unfortunate to be overtaken at the top of the Dales Council League Section B by Apperley Bridge,
Stars batted first and set a huge target of 353 with the batting going down to no9 where Habib Ullah top-scored with 76. At the other end of the innings opener Rifat Mahmood gave the side a good start with 56. There was fine support from Farhan Ali with 48 and Shabaaz Ahmed with 50 wile Mohammed Raja contributed 37.
Steven Shires made his mark for Adel with 5-70.
Adel’s reply was limited to 154 in 44.4 overs as Ullah shone again taking 4-19 from 7.4 overs. M Nadeem 2-14, S Ahmed 2-21 and R Mahmood 2-20 impressed.
Savile Stars are a point behind Apperley Bridge and they face a tough test on Saturday at home to fourth-placed Hepworth and Idle B.
