Treble winners Fisher end historic campaign on high

St John Fisher ended a historic campaign on a high as the treble winners secured a 6-1 win over Woodman Batley Carr in their last match.

Fisher sealed the Heavy Woollen Sunday League Premier Division title with a 1-1 midweek draw against AFC Chickenley to secure a trophy treble having defeated Woodman in both the Heavy Woollen District FA Brook Butler Cup and Heavy Woollen Challenge Cup finals.

Rob Bordman led the way with a hat-trick in last Sunday’s victory, with Ricky Newman, Aidan Schofield and Bill Phethean netting one each. Andrew Pickles claimed Woodman’s consolation.

Fisher end the campaign unbeaten with 12 wins and two draws from their 14 matches.

Birkenshaw finish four points behind Fisher after they beat Woodman 2-1 in Tuesday’s final match.

Navigation are Division One champions after they won 3-2 at bottom side Battyeford Reserves last Sunday.

Robert McCall, Tom Heaton and Dave Blakeley netted for Navigation as they moved seven points clear at the top.Nigel Saddington and Tom Bruce replied.

Having clinched the title, Navigation suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to Deighton WMC in Tuesday’s final match.

Town Rangers clinched the runners-up spot after two wins over Clifton Rangers.

Joe Wills (two), Danny Berry, Scott Thornton, Robert Dolan, James Hutchinson and Richard Carter scored in a 7-1 win over Clifton last Sunday before sealing a 6-4 victory on Tuesday.

Deighton WMC slipped to third last Sunday after losing 4-3 at Birkenshaw Reserves thanks to strikes from Tom Smith, Mike Durham, Will Gough and Nathan Foster.

Nathan Clarke hit four goals as Punch Bowl won 6-4 against The Yorkshireman in Sunday’s other game.

Ryan Foster and Tom Blackburn hit the others, with The Yorkshireman replying through Ryan O’Hara, Stephen Hurst, Simeon Fletcher and Ben Simpson.

Dewsbury Rangers won 6-3 at Battyeford on Tuesday.
