Trojans U9s make winning start

THORNHILL Trojans Under-9s made a great start to the new campaign at Batley Boys as both teams battled hard through wet and cold conditions.

Parents’ MoM Reece Fisher broke down the centre for a try but Batley soon replied.

Confident passing and strong running gave the Trojans the edge leading to quick scores from Asim Collomosse, Rye Ward, Kurt Hodgson and MoM George March.

Ben Moorhouse went close after an impressive break, while Jake Buckley led the defensive effort, with support from top tackler Hodgson.

Ward took the the magic moment award as the Trojans won 24-8.

Thornhill Under-8s travelled to Moldgreen for their first game of the season.

Playing uphill in driving rain, Thornhill found it hard going but good work from Shay Midwood, Scott Walker and Jermaine Baliki helped them make progress.

Kye Hodgson and Josh Barcley picked up awards for their efforts.

Kyle Lister and Aiden Fellows also played well, while Kieron Duxbury and Brandan Harris worked hard in attack and defence.

Ryan Mitchell scored the Trojans’ try, while Oliver Brown was awarded MoM.

Moldgreen went on to win the game but the young Trojans impressed in their first outing.
