Leeds Warrior Warrington will make the second defence of his English featherweight title, which tops the bill on what is sure to be an explosive night.

The 22-year-old, who trains out of the Central Boxing Club in Batley, has already had ticket enquiries from Leeds United players Ross McCormack and Noel Hunt, along with Rhinos stars Brett Delaney and Jamie Peacock.

Stablemate Gary Sykes Hull’s Tommy Coyle and another Leeds boxer Adil Anwar are also on the huge September 27 show, being billed as ‘Yorkshire’s Finest’.

Warrington said: “This bill is bringing together the best boxers in Yorkshire and I’m honoured to be topping a show which has so many talented fighters on.

“The venue will have a 1,500 capacity but tickets are already flying out and we are expecting a sell out.”

Warrington defended his English featherweight crown with a unanimous points victory over Devon’s Jamie Speight on an electrifying night at Leeds Town Hall in March and he can’t wait to box at the home of his beloved Leeds United.

Warrington added: “The atmosphere when I walked down the town hall steps into the ring was unbelievable but hopefully the fans can replicate that and make it twice as loud at Elland Road.

“Everyone knows the atmosphere Leeds fans can generate, I think they just need a boxer they can follow.

“The Central Club is buzzing with me and Gary Sykes, two English champions, and Femi Fehitola joining the stable and hungry for success.

“Jamie Speight is also coming up to spend a few weeks with us at the gym as he prepares for a Southern Area super bantamweight title.

“I spoke to Jamie after our fight and he’s a great lad. He’s a former opponent and will be a gym mate for a few weeks and we have sorted him some accommodation so he can spend a few weeks up here with us.”
