Young cricketers enjoy coaching with the pros

BUDDING young cricketers were given some expert coaching during the half-term holiday when the Pro Cricket Academy held a free two-day course at Woodlands CC.

Coaches Mark Gilliver and Chris Marsden were on hand to offer expert tips to around 20 children who attended the course.

Cleckheaton batsman Gale continues to impress on the tour of the West Indies as he helped the Lions draw their latest game against Combined Campuses and Colleges in Barbados.

Gale made 27 as England were bowled out for 373 and then dismissed the hosts for 328 in the first innings.

Gale then made 48 in England’s second innings of 256-7 declared before they restricted the Colleges to 204-7 as the match ended in a draw.

England Lions’ next four-day match is against Guyana, starting tomorrow Friday (March 11), before the tour will see them travel to meet the Windward Islands from next Friday.

n Gale’s business partner Chris Taylor and two colleagues will open and run a new cricket shop in St Michael’s Lane, near the Headingley ground.

The All Rounder Cricket store, opens this Saturday (March 12) and will sell a wide range of cricket equipment and the shopworkers will all be current or ex professional cricketers.

The store will open between 9am to 5pm on Saturday when visitors will have the chance to win a one-on-one coaching session with Gale.
