Young Sharks aim to bounce back from loss

The under-strength Sharks were never really in the hunt last Saturday as Waterhead won 21-4 at Leeds Road in National Conference League Division Two.

The visitors controlled the game throughout and sealed the win with a drop-goal and a penalty goal late on.

The Sharks were without stand-off Ben Diskin while Andrew Fawkes was a late withdrawal due to work commitments.

The home side’s consolation try came from hard working Danny Annakin who bulldozed over at the corner.

The Sharks’ forwards led by prop Steve Talbot worked tirelessly but could never really break down the Waterhead defence while Adam Brummitt was named man-of-the-match.

Coach Brett Turner said afterwards: “People forget the average age of our squad is 21 years old. These lads had an off day but we will bounce back next week.”
