The true story of two spies who passed secrets about British atomic submarines to the Russians in the late 1950s is brought to the stage this week by Dewsbury Arts Group.
The group’s production of Pack of Lies, directed by Mark Bailey, is being performed nightly at Dewsbury Artspace until Saturday.
It recounts the story of Helen and Peter Kroger, who were part of the Portland Spy Ring.
The Krogers were arrested in 1961 and sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment, but released in 1969 as part of an exchange of prisoners between Great Britain and Russia.
The play was first presented in 1983 and starred Judy Dench and her husband Michael Williams.
